Rachel Sarrano is a composer, lyricist, and writer based in Fairfax, Virginia. Her work encompasses a variety of genres and storytelling mediums. Rachel has a MFA in Music Composition from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her teachers have included Roger Zahab, Michael Early, Dr. Glenn Smith, and James “Jim” Tucker.

Rachel’s most recent work, The 5 Stages of Grief, was written for upright bass and voice. The piece grapples with the emotional fallout surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.  A score is available for sale through SMP Press
